![]() The Scottish Gaelic "Peadar" is said to be reserved for the saint, and the Scottish Gaelic " Pàdraig". The names are ultimately derived from the Greek word "petros", meaning "stone", "rock". Peadar is a masculine given name in the Irish, and Scottish Gaelic languages (in Manx Gaelic orthography the same name is rendered "Peddyr"). He was known as " Pàdraig Grannd nan Oran" ("Peter Grant of the Songs"), which became a household name in the Highlands of Scotland for nearly Peter Grant (1783–1867) was a Scottish pastor, poet and songwriter. Since then, Aonghas Pàdraig Caimbeul has produced three further novels for Ùr-sgeul, and a novella for CLÀR. ![]() Heavily influenced in both structure and theme by the works of Leo Tolstoy, "An Oidhche Mus Do Sheòl Sinn" was short-listed for the Saltire Book of the Year Award in 2004. Ùr-sgeul's most critically successful title to date was the epic novel, "An Oidhche Mus Do Sheòl Sinn", by Aonghas Pàdraig Caimbeul. ![]()
